Visualizing Microbial Seascapes - Spring

Category

Live Fast, Die Young

These special organisms have earned their spot in this category for being some of the fastest living guys in the ocean. Although the time limits with these creatures can vary, it is still incredible how much these organisms do for our world in such a small time period. Many of these organisms may live only as long as a day, maybe less; while others can live as long as a week. These organisms are not only important because they have such a short life, but because they help the world in so many ways, like producing oxygen by photosynthesizing, consuming organic carbon and matter, and for being some of the primary producers.
