- Campus closes at 2pm Fri. Feb. 8 due to weather concerns.
- So, no tutoring this afternoon. However, I’ve set up a Google Hangout if you want to try to use it to work with each other once you’ve returned safely to your homes. See this post; the Hangout is still open as far as I can tell. If I can, I’ll pop in to the Hangout as well.
- update: a tutor will be available 2:30 – 4:30, Fri. Feb. 8 in the Hangout.
- I’ve extended the CSS submission due time to 7pm Sat. Feb. 9. I recognize that this still might not be sufficient for some of you; do your best. I will have soft expectations of your ability to complete and post. I will fill in any gaps by Sunday morning so complete solution sets will be available by then.
- It’s likely that classes on Monday will be affected as well; stay tuned for more information.

Tutoring & Weather, Fri. Feb. 8
Tutoring status on Fri. Feb. 8 is uncertain, due to winter weather conditions. I’ve heard from the afternoon tutor that she won’t make it because of weather concerns; not sure about evening tutoring (or even if campus will still be open). I’ll update this post as I am able.
Campus is closing at 2pm due to weather, so no tutoring today.
Video Tutoring Fri. Feb. 8, 9 – 10am

Video Lecture Resource Reminders
The Preparation for Winter Quarter post links to several good video lecture resources. Some particular ones of interest:
-
- EM: The creator of these video lectures that are based directly on Griffiths’ Introduction to Electrodynamics uses the 2nd edition compared to our current 4th edition, but that is generally not an issue. There are at least 200 videos that cover up to chapter 9; I have barely viewed a fraction of them. Hopefully these videos, which basically present and expand directly on the information in the text, can serve to supplement your engagement with the text. Organized quite well, so you can simply scroll down the playlist to find any section you’d like to see presented.
- QM: For Townsend Chapter 4, these are particularly relevant:
- From “DrPhysicsA”, Quantum Mechanics Concepts 6: Energy Operators, the Hamiltonian, Schrödinger, and Time Dependence.
- From Dr. Steve Spickelmire, Lesson 25: Formalism II More Quantum Formalism (starting at time stamp 11:15 is most relevant but the earlier part is also good review) and Lesson 26: Formalism III Time Evolution + More Change in Basis
Winter’s End & Spring’s Beginning Proposed Calendar Change
Here are the details of the calendar change proposed for winter end and spring beginning, intended to accommodate those students planning to attend the ACS National Conference.
Please let me know as soon as possible and no later than Monday February 4 by 9am if you see problems with the proposed change.
Please bring EM, CM, QM PSN Logs to Quixam, Mon. Feb. 4
- Students taking Qu¡xam! E2 on Mon. Feb. 4 should be bringing their EM PSN for a PSN check already.
- Normally, students who attend a Qu¡xam would bring their QM PSN for a check as well, but many of you are caught up in your QM PSN since there wasn’t an assignment due last week. But please do bring your QM PSN Log even if you don’t need to bring your actual QM PSN.
- Please also bring your CM PSN Log (but not the actual CM PSN) as well.
