RECAST | Invitation to share Student Work at Juneteenth Celebration on June 5
Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to invite you to share student projects created this year that would fit the theme of “Liberation and Justice” to be shown during our virtual Juneteenth Celebration on June 5. Student projects might include visual arts, media and multimedia, creative writing and performance arts.
This virtual event commemorates African-American liberation from slavery and is a collaboration between Olympia and Tacoma, with coordination led by Carl Forbes, Associate Director of Admissions & Multicultural Recruitment. Last year, under the leadership of VP Chassity Holliman-Douglas, we launched an amazing campus-wide celebration of this liberatory celebration and also honored many of our community elders. This year, in addition to talented guests and alum, we’d also like to include a section of multicultural, multi-issue student work that addresses themes of liberation and justice. If the work isn’t already recorded for use in the program, we are coordinating with Electronic Media for support and can arrange for that.
Thanks for responding to me and Carl at your earliest convenience with student names and contact information OR please have interested students email us directly with a description of their work no later than Wed. May 27.
Many thanks,
Therese
