Chemistry Lab 1 including Pre-lab, experiment procedure, and Post-lab is available here. The Pre-lab should be completed on a separate sheet of paper and turned in at the beginning of Lab at 9 am on Thursday, Oct. 1st. You do not need to print the lab; we will have copies for you on Thursday.

Lab Safety Quiz
Reminder: Your Lab Safety Quiz needs to be completed by 9 am Tue. Sep. 29 since we have a physics lab that morning. Here are instructions for accessing the Lab Safety Quiz:
-Go to the website canvas.evergreen.edu
-Login through the CAS system using your evergreen username and password.
-Choose the course Science Support for Academics 2015-2016
-Follow the instructions
-Click on the link for the Lab Safety Introduction.
-Read the Lab Safety Introduction; continue by clicking Next at the bottom right.
-Open the Lab Safety Handbook (this will open in a new tab or ask you to download the pdf).
-Return to the canvas site and click the Next button.
-Read the instructions carefully and Take the Quiz. You may use the Handbook to answer questions on the quiz.
–All questions must be answered correctly to access the lab spaces. You may repeat this quiz as many times as needed.

Program Syllabus and Covenant
We will provide you paper copies of the program Syllabus and Covenant in our first class meeting, so no need to print out your own copies. We provide them here in case you want to look them over before the first class meeting.
Week 1 Reading Assignments
We don’t expect students to have completed reading for the first day of class, but will we cover review topics in chemistry on Monday afternoon (chemistry Ch. R) and begin with the rest of the reading on Tuesday and Wednesday. To prepare for the rest of the first week reading, please read the following. The first week reading assignments are provided as links for those of you who don’t have your books yet. These files are big. Do not print them out using campus printers; read them on the screen as best you can. Please get your books as soon as possible.

You can download a copy of the first chapter of our calculus textbook here.
- We will assume that, at the bare minimum, you have previously learned the material in sections 1.1 – 1.6 as part of your precalculus course (or its equivalent).
- As needed, use available resources to review and solidify any of this material.
- We begin the quarter with section 1.7 Introduction to Continuity, so it is vital that you have reviewed/prepared sections 1.1 – 1.6.
