RECAST | Sign up for “Keep Teaching” Institutes
Dear colleagues,
Here we are in the world of 5,000 emails a day. We hope you all are finding light and connection in messages you are getting from your friends and loved ones.
*This email offers corrected/updated links for the remote “Keep Teaching” institutes.*
As announced yesterday, the “Keep Teaching” team will be offering two remote, half-day sessions for faculty and instructional staff. All of these sessions will be recorded, although live participation will allow you to get feedback from facilitators and your colleagues. These sessions will work best if done in the order in which they’ve been designed, but you’ll get some benefit no matter how many sessions you’re able to attend and in which order.
Schedule
DAY 1: Thursday, March 19 OR Tuesday March 24: 1-4 pm
In this session, we will help you create a flexible plan for the entire quarter, including a remote teaching plan for the first 4 weeks
DAY 2: Friday, March 20 OR Wednesday, March 25: 1-4 pm
In this session, we will walk you through the Canvas template and help you build your Canvas course (ideally using the plan you’ve developed on Day 1)
Please sign up at this updated form so we know who to expect (with apologies to those of you who have already signed up — please sign up again).
Homework
To do ahead of time:
- Read “How to Be a Better Online Teacher” by Darby Flowers
- Even if you’ve done it previously, please complete the Canvas Orientation, self-paced.
- Check out the Help Wiki that will tell you how to set up your Zoom account in Canvas.
- Set up a meeting with a colleague in Zoom so you can play around with this tool.
If you have questions about any of this information, or about teaching remotely, please email learningandteaching@evergreen.edu. Technology requests can be submitted through https://help.evergreen.edu/.
Sincerely,
Academic Deans
On behalf of the “Keep Teaching” Team
