January 2025 | Tech Teaching Tip from Timothy Corvidae
This month’s tech tip is a reprise from this summer, to let newer faculty know about some important resources Evergreen provides via our membership of the Online Learning Consortium. With this membership, we have access to a treasure trove of resources produced and maintained by their excellent network of experts. I attended the OLC’s Innovate conference last April, and I was really impressed with the commitment to creative and engaged learning demonstrated by the OLC team of staff and volunteers. Here are a few of the OLC’s resources worth spending a little time perusing:
Free OLC Webinars for Members
Join online experts in learning more about hot topics in online, digital and blended learning as well as best practices and special interests. Webinars are recorded and we can watch anything from the archive. If you have an area of your online teaching that you want to work on, OLC probably has done a webinar about it.
The OLC Research Center, currently featuring a new report “Empowering Change Together” on how students define quality online, digital, and blended learning experiences.
TOOLS – downloadable Playbooks including the popular “Communities of Practice in Higher Education” and “Caring for Students Playbook: Six Recommendations”
The Online Learning Journal (OLJ)
An open access journal dedicated to the development and dissemination of new knowledge at the intersection of pedagogy, emerging technology, policy, and practice in online environments. You may be especially interested in a recent issue dedicated to Online and Blended Learning in the Age of Generative AI.
