Dear Evergreen Community:
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Anthony Levenda as the new Director of the Center of Climate Action and Sustainability (CCAS). Anthony has a Ph.D. in Urban Studies and Planning from Portland State University with a Graduate Certificate in Energy Policy and Management. He has an M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with a Graduate Certificate in Energy and Sustainability Engineering. His B.S. is in Mechanical Engineering.
Anthony comes to us from the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Oklahoma. His research, teaching and community work focuses on equitable energy transitions. His work is highly interdisciplinary, integrating climate mitigation and adaptation, social movements, and inequalities of race and class. Anthony looks forward to connecting with local community partners as well as regional climate centers and partnerships in the Pacific Northwest.
The Center for Climate Action and Sustainability was made possible by a generous donation from Evergreen alumni, Christy Holz and Tim Ball, with coordination from Evergreen’s Advancement office. Critical foundational work was done by a dedicated team of Evergreen faculty committed to teaching about climate change and climate justice. Thanks to all who made this appointment possible.
We look forward to Anthony joining our team on September 1, 2021. More about Anthony’s current work can be found here.
Sincerely,
Karen Gaul
Academic Dean
