We hope to see you there!

Seabed Mining Presentation Recording

Last week, MES hosted a presentation on seabed mining featuring Liz Schotman, Surfrider Foundation’s Washington Regional Manager, and Lee First, Twin Harbors Waterkeeper. For those that missed this presentation, please feel free to watch the Seabed Mining Presentation on our MES YouTube Channel at your convenience. Please note, we did not record the Q&A after the presentation so that attendees would not be visible during the recorded session. If you have questions for Liz and Lee after you watch the presentation, they invite you to reach out to them at:

Liz Schotman: lschotman@surfrider.org

Lee First: leefrider7@gmail.com

Seabed mining is on the rise in some parts of the world, and could put commercial and recreational fisheries, marine wildlife, and coastal communities and cultures at risk. If you would like to elevate your voice to the issues surrounding Seabed Mining, you can submit a public comment of Senate Bill 5145 which is currently in committee at the Washington State Legislature:

  1. Go to the SB 5145 site.
  2. Click the button that says “Comment on this bill” just below the bill number, title and sponsors
  3. Add your address to verify your legislative district and complete the form

Please reach out if you have any questions at averi.a.azar@evergreen.edu or 3 6 0. 7 4 2. 8 7 4 6.

Have a great weekend!
