Photoland at The Evergreen State College: A Student & Community Photo Center in Olympia WA

Fall Quarter is approaching and we are excited to get back open to welcome you all into Photoland again! We will be reopening on Monday, September 28th, 2026 with the following hours:

Monday: 12:00pm – 9:00pm

Tuesday: 12:00pm – 9:00pm

Wednesday: 4:00pm – 9:00pm

Thursday: 12:00pm – 9:00pm

Friday: 12:00pm – 7:00pm

Saturday: CLOSED

Sunday: CLOSED

Our digital printing services and color film processing services will begin again in Fall quarter. Our photo store will be open during all of our open hours. Analog proficiencies will begin in week 3 of Fall quarter and you can find more information about those dates here.

Photoland’s last day open for Summer Quarter will be Thursday, August 27th, 2026. After the 27th, we will be closed until we reopen on Monday, September 28th (hours TBD). 

During this closure, we will not be offering any of our services. These services will resume when we reopen in September.

For community member patrons: Photoland will be closed to members of the general public from June 6th-August 3rd. During this time, we will accept print requests but will not be processing color film. Please join us in Photoland again beginning August 3rd! 

The last day to submit color film processing requests is Friday, May 29th. The processor will be down for maintenance until Fall quarter 2026. 

For Evergreen-affiliated patrons: From June 6th-21st, Photoland will be closed. We will reopen for summer to all Evergreen students, faculty and staff beginning June 22nd. Open hours for summer are:

Wednesday: CLOSED

Thursday: 12pm-5pm

Friday: CLOSED

Starting March 5th, Photoland will be open the following hours until the end of spring quarter on June 5th.

Sunday: CLOSED

Tuesday: 10:00am – 9:00pm 

Wednesday: 3:00pm – 7:00pm

Thursday: 10:00am – 7:00pm 

Friday: 12:00pm – 5:00pm 

Saturday: CLOSED 

Photoland will be closed on Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day.

The last day to submit film processing requests will be Friday, May 29th

The last day to submit print requests for turn around prior to summer closure (June 6th-21st) is Wednesday, June 3rd. 

Photoland’s last day open for spring quarter will be Friday, June 5th

Upcoming Proficiency Trainings

Friday, April 17th, 1-5pm

The analog photography spaces in Photoland require a proficiency training to access. In these 4-hour trainings, we will go over how to process black and white film and then how to make enlargements in the darkroom. After receiving this training, you will be able to use Photoland’s analog photography facilities during open lab hours!

These sessions are open to all currently enrolled students, current staff and faculty at Evergreen, and members of the general public. Community members will need to pay a proficiency fee of $15.00.

For this training, you will need to bring an exposed roll of 35mm black and white film to process during the session. You will not be able to participate without this. You may choose to bring 120mm film if that is your preference, but be aware that the proficiency will be geared towards 35mm processing.
