Spring Schedule and Details

Hello folks-

For your academic planning / registration, I’m including some schedule and other details below.

Note: If you will be at Evergreen next year, strongly consider taking “Tutoring Math and Science for Social Justice”, 2 units (7:30-9:00 AM Wednesdays). This is required if you want to be a QUASR tutor next year, and is in addition useful as parts of a good liberal arts education. I strongly encourage you to enroll (I think there may be a minor entrance assessment this year; please do not be put off by that). Note: do not assume one needs to be a perfect student oneself to benefit from tutoring, or to be able to help others. If you are interested, consider taking it.

As noted, Motion will be 12 units in Spring. The credit breakdown will be:

4 units: Calculus III

5 units: University Physics III, with lab

3 units: Analog circuits, with lab

The expected Spring schedule is posted here (on bottom of first page).

Update re: Campus Closure

Per the Campus announcement, much of campus will open again today at 5:00 PM. NOT included, and remaining closed over the weekend, are:

  • The Library (note the QuaSR is open)
  • Lab II

To avoid confusion, the homework to be handed in today will remain due on Monday, 10AM in class, instead.

Lab II is likely to be closed Monday; a further announcement will be made (probably on Sunday) when we know where we will relocate.

Campus Closure, Homework, Etc.

Hello-

As per the campus announcements, campus was (and is) closed today. Somewhat self-evidently, homework cannot be due if you cannot come to campus to hand it in.

For now, homework due today is postponed until Monday morning’s class. Any online assignments are unaffected.

I encourage you to do what you can today, since there are more assignments for next week, which I will post later today. Readings are already noted in last week’s assignment.

According to current information, the closure is due to a major water main break under the campus, and this has seriously affected Lab II. As a result, we will post additional information regarding class location on Monday — it is likely to change (Cal West may be closed). It is unlikely we will have new location information before Sunday, however.

The Library was apparently also substantially affected; it is likely the QuASR will be closed all weekend, but again it is too early to know for sure.

For now, work from the Official campus notices about when the campus will re-open.

Holiday Tutoring Feb. 15th

Pat is offering tutoring Monday night from 5:30 – 7:30 at the Barnes and Noble cafe on the westside (near the corner of Cooper Point Rd. and Black Lake Blvd.). This area can be accessed via bus on the 44 line (runs between the westside Safeway and downtown).

Winter Exam 1 Revisions

Revision time is upon us. Use this opportunity to improve your understanding of the 1st-half material. Revisions for the chemistry exam are due at 9:30 am Tuesday, Feb. 9th. We do not have a scheduled in-class revision workshop, but you may schedule a meeting with Riley on Friday or Monday afternoon.

A blank copy of the chemistry exam can be found here
