Dear faculty colleagues-

It’s been quite a year so far! We know how hard all of you have worked to provide remote and hybrid instruction in 2020-21. Last year, at roughly this time, we were preparing for fall 2020. Then as now, our first concern was for the health of our faculty, staff, students, and the overall community.

Thanks to everyone’s hard work, COVID-19 case counts at Evergreen are very low, and there are no known instances of COVID transmission through our curriculum. Our thanks go to staff, faculty, and students for sticking closely to our safety plans.

It can be difficult to imagine and plan for a future that feels very different from the world we live in today. As you know by now, Evergreen intends to conduct as much instruction as possible in person in the next academic year. Vaccination progress and dropping COVID-19 case counts make us optimistic. Planning must start soon.

Many of you have questions about fall 2021. The curriculum team hopes to present an information session during the Week 10 faculty meeting, to discuss planning for fall instruction and gather feedback on the planning process. Here are some general dates for you to consider:

  • March 10:      Proposed faculty meeting time re: fall planning
  • March 29:      Deadline to complete fall ‘21 catalog revision form
  • April/ May:     Early first-year registration
  • May 19:          Summer/Fall ‘21 Academic Fair
  • May 24:          General registration for summer and fall ‘21

As always, our first concern remains the health of our faculty, staff, students, and the overall community. We must ensure that our in-person classes are conducted safely. Evergreen looks forward to negotiating with UFE to address workplace safety and working conditions, as we have throughout this pandemic.

This kind of planning is challenging and valuable work, and we value your flexibility and commitment to students as we approach fall registration. Thank you.

Sincerely –

Trevor, for the Curriculum Team
