Faculty Notes | Joli Sandoz | 2022-2023
The M & M Manifesto – and Evergreen – turned 50 last year. The Evergreen Collaboratory marked both anniversaries with an exhibit curated by Joli Sandoz in the Evans Hall lobby. Posters featured excerpts from College documents early and late. Founding faculty Rudy Martin and David Marr’s Manifesto list of “the core of Evergreen’s educational process” outlined curricular features still familiar today. And then-Governor Dan Evans’ statement at Evergreen’s dedication in 1972 set a course for the future: “what Evergreen does helps to replace hopelessness with hope. . . . with a conviction that there is a future, that it is not preordained but that it will be what we make it.”
