Recast| One small thing you can do to improve retention this week

Dear colleagues,

I hope that Week 1 is off to a powerful start for you and your students!

In a meeting with our wonderful Advising staff colleagues today, Kathleen and I asked them what they were hearing from students this week: the #1 thing they are noticing is that many students are trying to change their registration and are not hearing back from faculty, which is provoking a fair amount of anxiety.

I know you all are drowning in email. And I know that many of you may not be accepting new students at this stage in the week. But please do take a moment to respond to student queries, even if your response is no.

If the answer is no, please consider sending students to https://www.evergreen.edu/advising, where — among other things — they can view an enrollment report that will show them which programs and courses still have open seats.

Thank you so much in advance,

Elizabeth (on behalf of the Curriculum Team)
