Dear Colleagues,

Happy spring! As things begin to open up (she said hopefully), and as the dean working on behalf of study abroad and international programs, I wanted to share some good news.  President Bridges has joined the presidents of Washington’s other five public baccalaureate college and universities in signing a joint statement of support for international education.

I wanted to both share the statement (attached) with you and to thank President Bridges and the others for continuing to value all that international exchanges and collaboration do to enrich our state institutions and our state more broadly.  The statement ends with this pledge:

We, Washington’s public four-year presidents, pledge our unyielding commitment to welcoming all students to our campuses, and to advocate to reduce barriers for students regardless of residency or immigration status. We remain united in our dedication to recognize and celebrate the immense benefit our international students bring to our classrooms, labs and communities.

I am excited to see what the next year brings in terms of expanding international opportunities and exchanges. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or ideas about our current international students, exchange programs, partner institutions, consortium partnerships, or faculty-led study abroad.

And happy spring!
Best,
Kathleen
