Hello,
The Evergreen Student Civic Engagement Institute (ESCEI) is usually a residential, pre-orientation, co-curricular, credit-bearing opportunity capped to a certain number of students. This year, ESCEI is all virtual and open to all new students! While it will not be credit-bearing, it will feature some great opportunities for our students! And you too, may join in the fun.
Three Options to Engage
This year, we have a daily talk with people from all over, highlighting different manifestations of civic engagement. Our ESCEI Student Mentors are working with Media Services to produce Quick Take videos on themes of voter registration, ethical volunteering, and more. Finally, our student mentors will host a daily Teatime @4; an open zoom room for students to drop in, say hello, and be in community.
Is there a fee?
ESCEI is generously supported by an Evergreen alum. The program fee previously associated did help offset costs and secure involvement. This year, we are thankful to expand access, lower our costs, and not have a fee.
How do people sign up?
There is no sign up process. Students will receive an email notification. Staff and faculty who are interested in attending an event may visit the website for information. The zoom link information will be shared online before the event.
What are the dates?
September 21-25, 2020
Huge thanks and so much gratitude to the many people who helped organize this year, including: Rainy Westrom, Robert Carter, Milo Gaudiano, Ann Rogers-Williams, Ben Hargett, Amanda Walker, Jadon Berry, Nikki Williams, Tina Pearson, and Andy Corn.
