Dear faculty and staff,
Each Friday of spring quarter, the Evergreen Remote communications team will send a summary of updates about teaching and working remotely, including changes made to Evergreen’s COVID-19 webpage, messages that have been sent out, and information that is forthcoming. Our goal is to ensure our community is apprised of important information related to remote learning, teaching, and services and to reduce the volume of communications you are receiving. Please be sure to check your email filter and junk settings so you don’t miss a message. Here are this week’s updates:
COVID Webpage Update:
- Evergreen’s COVID-19 student resources and employee resources pages – updated regularly. New updates include:
- Drop-in advising now available by Zoom
- Chromebooks available for checkout now!
- Physical distancing guidelines added for employees
- Zoom Security – Best practices for scheduling meetings
New Webpages:
- Student Resources – created to provide direct links to basic resources for students
- Student Well Being and Academics – created to provide tips for learning remotely
- Student Finances and Resources – created to provide students with information regarding funding resources, fee changes, and spring quarter tuition
Campus Communications:
- Student Support & Resources for Spring – A message sent from Therese Saliba and Cholee Gladney to students on Wednesday, April 1, 2020
- Federal Paid Sick Leave and Federal Expanded Family and Medical Leave – COVID-19 – this is a reminder, a message sent from Laurel Uznanski to all employees on Wednesday, April 1, 2020
- Welcome Back, Greeners – a message sent from George Bridges to students on Thursday, April 2, 2020
- Keep Teaching Newsletter: Week 1 – a message sent from Julia Metzker and Elizabeth Williamson
- Additional official Evergreen zoom backgrounds available: Option 3 solid green & Option 4 watercolor
Public Communications:
- Local colleges, university extend remote classes through spring due to COVID-19 uncertainty – Evergreen’s efforts featured in The Olympian on March 31, 2020
- Faculty team welcome message to students – an example of one of the messages the marketing team shared on Evergreen’s Facebook about remote learning
In Progress – topics the Evergreen Remote/COVID-19 work groups are currently addressing:
- Equipment, supplies, and ergonomics for teleworking
- FERPA and Public Records Guidelines for remote teaching
- Lab and studio support for faculty doing remote instruction during Stay Home and Stay Healthy
- Assessing student employee needs
- Assessing student technology needs
- Planning for summer and fall
- Graduation Ceremony
