RECAST | Fall 19 | Week 8 | Resources & Reminders

Dear Colleagues –

A short and sweet R&R for your Week 8.

In-Program Work on the Academic Statement: Many of you are conducting your six hours of Academic Statement work this quarter and using the academic statement as an occasion to talk one-on-one with your students about their futures at Evergreen. If you are looking for ideas, please visit the Academic Statement Canvas Site, where you will find suggested workshops, readings, supplementary materials, and more. This year’s turn-in window for students’ annual academic statements opened Thursday, November 14, 2019. Encourage your students to turn in their statements once they are complete.

As you do this valuable work, don’t forget that students graduate every quarter, not just Spring. The graduating seniors in your class will likely benefit from your help and advice with their final academic statements.

All-Campus Mentoring Day: Winter quarter’s All-Campus Mentoring Day will be February 19, 2020. Look for an email soon asking you to sign-up. It’s not too early to begin encouraging your students to attend. Questions can be directed to deans@evergreen.edu

Sabbatical and Faculty Grant Due Dates:

Sabbatical Proposals: December 15, 2019.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) faculty applications: January 24, 2020

Kutter Fund for Microbiology Research: January 31, 2020

Plato Lecture Series Awards : February 7, 2020

Thanksgiving Break: Students new to Evergreen may not know that we have a week-long Thanksgiving break (November 25-29), when classes aren’t held and many parts of the campus are closed or have reduced services.
