It’s been a while since the last post, but that doesn’t mean things haven’t been going on here at the NHC. Today is quite busy; students have been in and out, tours have stopped by, an herbarium specimen prep workshop is in full swing, identifications are being made, and too much more to list. Herbarium specimen prep workshops is one of the services we provide, and in these a curator teaches the principles and processes of incorporating of specimens. We will be hosting more workshops this quarter, including “Collecting and Curating Coleoptera,” in which students will be taught the various techniques for collecting beetles, and the processes involved in keeping a useful and aesthetic collection.
