More than 70 staff and faculty past and present wrote about their practices as Evergreen educators for Real Evergreen: An Educator’s Handbook. Editor Joli Sandoz notes in the preface that “the most important purpose of a grassroots, varied, and incomplete compendium such as this is to encourage thought. . . . Using what’s here . . . as inspiration for your own contributions to Evergreen’s educations, carries everyone’s learning forward.” From the Handbook’s opening advice once given to a new Evergreen educator – “Keep an open mind” – to the closing list of additional resources focused on Evergreen’s wide-ranging educational practices, the Handbook provides 200 pages of information and expertise to draw from.
