Questions about your winter class schedules?

Dear faculty colleagues –

Thank you for all your effort in getting fall quarter off the ground! Although it seems early, we planning in earnest for winter 2022. Faculty need to provide information about winter offerings no later than Monday, October 25, 2021 (see below).

Evergreen will maintain its hybrid instructional footing through winter and spring 2022. The current balance of classes is working well: roughly half of our students are studying in hybrid classes, 20% in-person, and 30% remotely. Most of our students continue to look for chances to study in person.

All faculty now have the option to teach fully in-person in winter and spring 2022; faculty can also increase the amount of in-person activities in a hybrid offering in those quarters. We especially encourage those teaching in lab or studio-based classes to consider increasing in-person access.

Winter Quarter Planning – to do by October 25, 2021:

Olympia Undergraduate Faculty

Please review your offering in the academic catalog. Look carefully: some defaults were set months ago. If you need to make a change to the program description, fees, or instructional footing, please email curriculumteamdl@evergreen.edu.

Those with continuing, multi-quarter offerings need to re-enter their fall space schedules in Schedule Evergreen for winter.Remember, course series are not continuing offerings and need to request space each quarter.

Those faculty with new offerings in winter will need to request classroom spaces and schedules through Schedule Evergreen. We will continue to use the schedule footprints developed last year (details below). Please do this before October 25th if possible.

Greener Foundations schedules should be designed in concert with Abir Biswas and Alex Markley; expect a separate message.

Tacoma, NPP, and Graduate Faculty

Please work directly with your Director/ Dean to establish your program description, fees, footing, schedules and spaces.

I remain cautiously optimistic that our COVID safety protocols are working. Case counts remain low. Evergreen has some of the highest vaccination rates among Washington 4-years, with 98% of employees immunized and about 93% of students having met the vaccine requirement. More information can be found at https://sites.evergreen.edu/covid19/.

Scheduling questions can be sent to Susan Keefe at spacescheduling@evergreen.edu
