Faculty Note | Nancy Koppelman | 2025-2026
Nancy Koppelman continued to work nation-wide supporting educators in their efforts to understand issues that pertain to the Jewish people. In summer 2025, she partnered with Seattle’s Holocaust Center for Humanity at the Washington Education Association’s annual Equity Day, offering sessions about antisemitism for local public school teachers. That September she began work with her third cohort of 40 college administrators from across the country whom she taught and mentored: during an introductory 3-day institute in Washington D.C.; on line monthly for presentations and discussions; and a final 3-day convening in New York City in the spring. Nancy also gave talks at Colorado State University, the University of Washington, the University of California—San Francisco, and the Colorado School of Mines. At UCSF she developed required training about antisemitism for all incoming students. At the University of West Florida, she partnered with Palestinian human rights activist Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, helping students, staff, and faculty learn about partnerships that foster conditions toward co-existence in Israel/Palestine. Nancy also gave presentations about her work at the annual conferences of NASPA and of the 1st Year Experience; for the latter, she partnered with Dr. Colette Coleman, vice president for student affairs at George Washington University, with whom she worked during student orientation in 2024 (pictured). She will continue this work through the 2026-27 academic year.
