Subject: Certificate Opportunities at Evergreen
Dear Faculty & Staff,
I am pleased to announce the launch of Certificates at Evergreen!
These additional credential opportunities for students and professionals in our community are an important new component of our strategy for improving retention, recruitment, and reputation.
We have both Academic and Professional Certificates opportunities available to students:
- Academic Certificates (https://www.evergreen.edu/certificates/academic-certificates) are comprised of courses and coordinated studies programs that are offered as part of the regular curriculum leading to a degree.
- Professional Certificates (https://www.evergreen.edu/certificates/professional-certificates) are comprised of a sequence of professional studies and workforce development learning experiences. These certificates are planned in partnership with external organizations and offer continuing education units for individuals toward specific careers and professional fields.
Please review the webpages above for more information about the four planned 2021-2022 certificate opportunities. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
The above opportunities are just the beginning. This summer we will be completing the certificate design process for new certificate development, along with policies and associated system updates so that we will be in position to launch and support more certificates in for fall 2022.
The certificate design processwill create an ongoing framework for the design, development, approval, and implementation of new certificates, with guidance about curriculum development and budgeting to streamline the process. We are developing a certificate policy to clarify terms and requirements for certificates and a self-supporting program policyfor programs that operate without state funding. More information about these will be shared in fall quarter.
I am especially appreciative of the heavy lift by the staff and faculty involved with developing and implementing certificates for next year. I am impressed and delighted by their energy and dedication in creating these new opportunities and the structures to support them on such a short timeline. Thank you!
