Faculty Note | Alison Styring | 2025-2026

Alison Styring published a paper titled “Nest description, post-fledging vocalizations, and elevational distribution of Blyth’s Hawk-Eagle Nisaetus alboniger in Borneo” in the Journal of Asian Ornithology. At the 96th Annual Meeting of the Northwest Scientific Association, Alison gave a talk titled “Bioacoustic Monitoring in The Evergreen State College Campus forest.” The talk presented data looking at patterns in the breeding bird community in our campus forest over the past 20 years. Alison will also be giving a talk at the 2026 Meeting of the Ecological Society of America this July in Salt Lake City. The talk is titled “Bioacoustic Diversity of Mangrove Forests in the Gambia” which is part of the large interdisciplinary project “Biodiversity, Livelihoods, and Understanding of Ecosystems Mangrove (BLUEMap).”
