Before the Break: The closest hospital to Evergreen is the MultiCare Capital Medical Center. There are a few clinics and urgent cares near Evergreen, but everything is at least 2.5 miles away. Olympia is well connected to places if you seek medical attention. Since Evergreen is a state college, I believe they are well stocked in case of disaster (not for an apocalyptic one though). Each area of Olympia is assigned to a certain hospital based on your location. 19% of the population in Olympia is over 65 and 1/6th of the Lacey population is over 65.
Since then: Olympia and the rest of the world is cut off from where we are at Evergreen, the healthcare system in Olympia would have no relevance yet, until we reach the city. Evergreen has a great healthcare system so we can rely on that for a while. Plants would become very important as they grow medical supplies. Emergency supplies at the hospitals wouldn’t last long and some doctors and nurses would stay who don’t have family around or are “Good Samaritans”. Since the population of Lacey and Olympia is quite elderly, I think much of the population would be congregated around healthcare areas so they can reach care, supplies and food. Most cops are dead, although a few cops would stay to guard the hospitals since they have drugs, and other important items. Usually during a disaster people don’t act like they do normally so they would need to keep the peace. Olympia healthcare is something that will pop-up later in the game since we originate on Evergreen. By the time we are able to reach the hospitals, most likely the Capital medical center, the hospital is not very full since many of the people who need care to survive will have passed on. There are some doctors and nurses there, many of them sleep there to tend to the patients. The parking lots and surrounding area to the hospital will be full of tents and people (like a tent city) but not as many as there were to begin with.
