Facts We Know about the World

  1. Cause: ?????
  2. We don’t know what happened to the rest of the world. There is no communication from them.
  3. It is currently impossible the leave the Lacey/Olympia/Evergreen area–surrounded on all sides by “living forest” that also cuts us off from any outside infrastructure or resources
  4. Travel between Evergreen and Olympia is perilous because of the mist. In some locations there is a literal wall of fog so thick and coarse that it is impossible to see or cross through. Those who do try to traverse it become incredibly disoriented (Update: as of June 1st, we are able to travel between the two places. However, in our investigations we angered the fog and it regularly floods into Evergreen campus like the tide, making it dangerous to step outside the building.)
  5. Animals and plants are mutating. New species are emerging and predator/prey relationships are flipped on their head.
  6. Most admin and faculty were not on campus at the time of the disaster, about 1,000 students on campus
  7. Water level noticeably rising (ocean, rivers)
  8. Forest is thicker and the paths are more obscure
  9. The Mist, Forest, and Ocean do strange things to the human body and mind when they’re in there
  10. The sun is red. There is still a day/night cycle but a red tint floods the skies
  11. Electricity not reliable–is a scarce resource
  12. Wifi and cellular data not working
  13. GPS kind of works, but is very imprecise
  14. “Magic” manifests through places of power–forests/oceans/mists
  15. This power is very tied up with nature. Caretaking for nature allows one to become more in tune with the power
  16. When magic presents a possible solution to a problem, the route to that solution is either complex or comes at a great cost
  17. When someone is using the magic solo, it’s incredibly risky and unstable. It becomes more stable when people can work together to harness its power.
  18. The power never belongs to us, it is nature’s to give and take
