the Art of Giving – A Time for
Tenacity
Scholarship Drive: March 15 – April 24
Dear Colleagues,
Happy Friday! In case we’ve not met, my name is Correan Barker and I work in Advancement as the Associate Director of Events, Alumni and Donor Relations. Each year Advancement and the Foundation hosts a gala called the Art of Giving to raise funds for the Evergreen Scholarship Fund which creates transformational scholarships for our students. In lieu of gathering in person this year, on March 15 The Evergreen State College Foundation launched an ambitious, six-week Art of Giving Scholarship Drive to raise $200,000 benefiting the Evergreen Scholarship Fund. So far with the help of alumni, donors and friends we’ve raised $189,016!
We invite you to join us for a free virtual Art of Giving event on Saturday, April 24, 2021, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. (PDT) celebrating our remarkable students and the conclusion of the scholarship drive. You canregister for the event online and we encourage sharing this opportunity with your colleagues and friends.
During the event, you’ll hear from this year’s Art of Giving student keynote speaker Parris Miller ’22. Now a junior enrolled in Evergreen’s Tacoma Program, Parris is pursuing a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Public Administration. You’ll be inspired by Parris’ accomplishments, his service to community, and his aspirations for the future! Special thanks to our Master of Ceremonies, Carl Forbes, Associate Director of Admissions Multicultural Student Recruitment for hosting the event. For questions about the Art of Giving, please email foundation@evergreen.edu and a member of our team will assist you.
The success of the Art of Giving has been made possible by many valued partnerships across the college. Thank you if you’ve ever supported the Art of Giving in any way. We couldn’t do it without you!
We’d like to especially thank the following colleagues for lending their time, talents and creativity to this year’s Art of Giving:
- College Relations (Brian Mathis, Kurt Lorenz, Elaine Nelson, Kelly Von Holtz, and Jeremy Mohn)
- Media Services (Ben Hargett, Dave Crampton, and Noah Phillips)
- And the many others who have and are
contributing to make this event possible
We hope you’ll join us!
