Tentative Winter Schedule, as previously discussed

Minor change for consideration, which just switches EM and QM on Thursday

Larger changes for consideration, look closely at Thursday and see below for details In this proposal for discussion, changes again are only on Thursday:

• We again switch EM & QM.
• QM would be a two hour block from 9:30 – 11:30.
• The lunch break would be from 11:30 – 12:30.
• Afternoon EM would be from 12:30 – 1:55 and QM would be from 2:05 – 3:30.
• Thursday afternoon would end at 3:30.

Switching EM and QM on Thursday is mostly motivated by the fact that we have fewer people taking QM than EM, and that most people taking EM are also taking CM. So this seemed a reasonable change to consider. The somewhat larger changes proposed in the third version are motivated by more complex reasons, so if it turns out that this is a viable option, we’ll discuss it at our first class meeting on Mon. Jan. 7. I want to emphasize again that our default schedule is the first one – what we had previously discussed. If you have made commitments that can’t be altered on Thursday, please talk about those clearly in your Winter Plan Survey; no changes will be made unless we have unambiguous unanimity.
