Here is the Quantum Mechanics Final Exam!
Notes/Clarifications/Corrections (updated 1:30pm 5/24/19)
- Remembers to limit your time on the exam to 6 hours total. Those need not be 6 consecutive hours. Exams are due to my office Lab 2 3255 by 5pm Fri. May 24.
- I made a mistake numbering the questions. There are no problems numbered 15 and 17 on the exam.
- Please do not interpret the page space available to answer a question as some indication of how much space it might take you to answer.
- Problem 11 should note that N is a constant, and the reference to A in that problem should be to N.
- Problem 2 would be more correct if it noted that each beam was determined to have z-component of angular momentum as given (and not just angular momentum).
In Problem 7, A should be Sqrt[2]. If you have already done part a) using A = 1, no need to re-do (even though it is not a difficult fix). No, it was correct as given.- Let’s make Problem 7g) a bonus, just like 8d). Two approaches work well (the two I did) but I should have cued you better about the calculus challenge or invited you to use technology; a third approach doesn’t work because of some subtle issues.
- Planck’s constant h = 6.626 x 10-34 J·s; h-bar = h/(2*pi); h•c = 1240 eV•nm.
- Cancel Problem 18c); in fact this transition is allowed. I should have asked about a different transition.
