moemoea (which means dream in Tahitian)
is a short experimental documentary, conceived in the tradition of the cine poem, that combines landscape cinematography with studies of light and form to explore the essential nature of Huahine, French Polynesia. Faculty member Sally Cloninger produced this film as part of her final project in the Islands program (2003-04). Sally along with faculty member, Virginia Darney and 40 students spent 8 weeks of the full year program on an island of their choice. Everyone (including faculty) had to complete a 13 part documentation kit and an individual research project.
