Sem II-B 3107

As institutions seek out opportunities to improve student retention and increase success, a lot of attention has focused on high-impact practices (HIPs), a series of widely tested teaching and learning practices that help achieve these goals. This session will offer a brief review of the literature about HIPs, and then highlight the distinct practices that contribute to their effectiveness. We’ll then focus on how these elements can be designed into learning communities, discuss utilizing the learning community as a space to integrate learning across courses and contexts, and challenge participants to consider how to combine multiple high-impact practices on their campus to increase student success.
