The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has some exciting job opportunities within our Southeast Region. Are you a confident communicator, self-sufficient worker, and active listener? This position interacts with interagency dispatch personnel as well as field personnel and the general public while monitoring communication and radio dispatch between field resources for the Southeast Region, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Burea of Land Management, and the United States Fish and Wildlife. - Duties

Responsibilities:
- Receives communications from various sources by telephone and radio and records, evaluates, and disseminates reports of wildfires, smoke complaints, and accidents/incidents on public lands protected by the above mentioned agencies;
- Dispatches resources to incidents;
- Uses a computer terminal and tracking maps to obtain and provide updated information on mobile resources, overhead, and wildfires;
- Maintains contact and status of aircraft assigned to local incidents;
- Monitors burn permit information and assists in providing pertinent information to the public;
- Receives and announces updates from the National Weather Service;
- Provide logistical support to wildfire incidents by utilizing multiple source lists to procure equipment, crews, and supplies;
- Work with neighbouring dispatch center and the geographic area coordination center to support fires across the United States.
- Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- One year experience with work involving public contact or communication such as radio communications, receptionist, switchboard operator, or clerical office work which included dealing with the public.
- Efficient skills in computer programs such as Microsoft Suite.
- Effective oral and verbal communications.
- Experience with record keeping.
- Experience with data analysis.
- Willingness and ability to work in a high pressure environment.
- Ability to manage workload.
Our ideal candidate will also have the qualifications listed below:
- Knowledge of and ability to explain the Forest Fire Protection Laws/Rules – i.e., Violations, Silvicultural Burning/Permits, Forest Closures/Suspensions, Fire Protection Regulations, Hazard Abatement.
- Trained in IROC (Interagency Resource Ordering Capability) and WildCAD (Wildland Fire Computer-Aided Dispatch).
- Working knowledge and ability to utilize the ICS (Incident Command System).
- Initial Attack Dispatcher experience.
