We are exploring how women sharing their stories can help form closer communities of women. We examine the importance of storytelling and its social impact through movements such as #MeToo. We also conducted interviews with women for the interdisciplinary photography project called Voices She Carries, where women are asked about their relationships with other women.
You have created a piercing, poignant representation of women. I was awed by what you conveyed in the photographs.
I am so happy you enjoyed it! Thank you for this feedback. Your encouraging words will stay with me as I continue my work!

Beautiful and developed in an engaging and thought-provoking artistic manner. Shows art as activism.
Thank you Dr. Sheppard! It was wonderful to see a glimpse of your film today. I appreciate your guidance throughout these last two quarters on this project!
Femininity does not equal weakness……….well done sisters, well done!
Thanks Rebecca! Yes, that’s one of my favorite parts from her interview!!!

This video made me think of the relationships I have had with women in my life. As I grow older I cherish my relationship with women.
Hi Theresa! I am so glad you connected with the interviews. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment, I really appreciate it!
WOW!! Just WOW! I cried too much. That just is so moving. I am so impressed with your ability to make it so beautiful and say so much. I identify with so many of those women’s voices. It was so perfect. When can we share this with all our friends? I am so proud of you all and want others to see and be moved too!
Oh Roberta, I am so happy you saw it! It has been several years of work, and I will continue it in grad school. I will post it publicly when I adjust a few things. I am glad you want to share it and appreciate your support!
This is exquisite!
Thank you Liz for your encouragement along the way. It means so much to have had your kind words urging me to continue this work!
Thank you for your presentation. It definitely touched my heart in many ways.
What a powerful and emotional project. Thank you.
This is amazing!!! I loved this and it reminded me to find the value in myself! It is important for us women to remember to bring each other up and remind each other just why we are so valuable!
Stunning imagery. Wow. I also appreciated your work because it continued to lift up storytelling as a credible, authentic, and valuable way to contribute to scholarship.
This is very well done, I enjoyed hearing the many different voices. Not including the questions being asked I think adds to the power in each woman’s voice, the dialogue come across as a series of statements rather than answers and I really liked that.
Beautiful job. The women ‘got real’ about their relationships to other women. I appreciate this honesty.
Great presentation, Angela. You will have a career.
wow! I am impressed over all over again. Thank you for the hard work and for putting your heart and soul in this presentation.
I feel very grateful to be a woman, yet I still feel like I am not good enough, simply for existing. It is sad to know I am not alone in this. Knowing that the way we think is a byproduct of years of negative self talk carried on from generation to generation. Watching these media images of women flashing that don’t look like me. Romanticizing a certain body type. It’s all very heartbreaking. How do we break this cycle when it is so embedded in us?
This was a beautiful, thought provoking piece. Thank you for sharing it.
Beautifully created. Your video does a great job portraying these stories in a very artistic way. The photographs used. as well as the tone of the voices telling their stories, gives this project an intimate sense that I don’t often get to experience.
Love it!
Wow, this was wonderful. You captured the interplay between voice and image were stillness prompts self reflection. Loved it.
You’ve touched my heart with the images, sounds, and stories. I’ve had similar experiences (re)learning how to relate with my own body in healthy and humanizing ways as I too know the word “shame” too well as a young girl. This video is moving and inspiring. It is an invitation for community building. thank you.
I teared up a little about from this. You have made a beautiful peace of art/ an educational.
thank you
I was impressed with the beautiful photography of all of the women, and it was very impactful with what they all had to say..
Thank you for sharing.
