We identified approaches used by different organizations locally to prevent and reduce gang involvement in youth. We compared strategies proven to be effective in previous research studies to the strategies utilized by local organizations in the Tacoma area. These are strategies and programs in use by organizations in the Tacoma area that focus on the prevention and intervention of gang involvement in youth, and how they are determined to be effective. We seek to identify the most common and most successful approaches used locally.
