The City of Tacoma lacks high quality affordable housing for all of its residents. Our research investigates how a Community Land Trust, or CLT, could be a mechanism to create affordable housing in Tacoma. A CLT is a non profit organization created with the intent of keeping housing affordable and within the hands of the community. A CLT acquires housing property, and maintains long term ownership of the land, but allows individuals or families to purchase the home.
