• There are several changes to next week’s schedule due to Veteran’s Day. Please look over the Calendar page carefully to note changes to schedule.
• The calculus reading for this week has been shortened to just Strang 3.5.

• The answers to 10.61 should be v_1f = 0.87 m/s and v_2f = 0.14 m/s. Looks like the answer in provided in the back of the book switched the angles. 3/4.
• The answer to 10.103a should have the y-component of the net force as -5.34 x 10^-3 N (the answer in the back has dropped the negative sign and rounded wrong). 3/4.

The answer to 9.33b should be zero. Since the point of application of the force of the wall on the car doesn’t move (the wall is essentially stationary), the wall does no work on the skater car.

Lab Notebook will be submitted for a spot check on Monday November 10. Turn in your Lab Notebook by 5 pm Mon. Nov. 10 outside the door to Krishna’s office Lab 2 room 3255. Notebooks will be checked for evidence of engagement, evidence of learning, and attention to completion. It’s not a good use of your time to spend a lot of time catching up on old labs – the intent of the labs and the attendant learning occurs if you are working on the labs in conjunction with your work in the other parts of the program.

Student who earned 21 or less points on the calculus exam or 30 or less points on the physics exam should submit an Exam 1 Revision.

• Revisions are due by 9 am Monday November 10 (the beginning of Week 7). Submit your original exam along with your revision.
• You may utilize any resource available to you, but submitted work must reflect your own personal understanding of the material.
• The care you take in presenting your work will be considered when evaluating it, so pay attention to organization, neatness, etc.
• Revisions must be neat, complete, and presented in a logical, clear-to-understand fashion.
• Since these are revisions, a higher standard will be used to evaluate your responses. Essentially, your solutions should be of the highest quality you can produce.
• You may revise any problems you choose, and must present a complete solution to any problem you choose to revise (not just a part of a problem).
• For multiple choice questions and graphs, your revised solution should completely and clearly explain your reasoning.
