Math Conference

  • The Pacific North West section meeting of the Mathematical Association of America meets on Fri. Apr. 20 and Sat. Apr. 21 at Seattle University.
  • We leave from Parking Lot C (“C lot”) on campus on Fri. Apr. 20 at 3pm, and should arrive back on campus by 11:30pm.
  • We leave on Saturday at 7:30am, from two locations: on campus and another location in town (TBA). We should return to campus by 9:30pm.
  • Reminder: this is an optional trip. You should register on your own. Please confirm directly with Krishna, either in person or via email, if you are planning to attend, and which day(s).
  • (updated) On Friday evening, there should be food at the Puzzle Hunt and something to eat at the reception following the opening lecture (should we want to stay for the reception). On Saturday, lunch is provided, and there are coffee breaks and receptions at various times (unsure of the food at those). You may want to bring your own food.

Free 3D Graphing software

  • An M&M student (thanks PA!) found easy to use software (with an interface similar to Desmos) that lets you graph things in three dimensions: https://www.geogebra.org/3d?lang=en
  • I’ve considered using GeoGebra https://www.geogebra.org/ instead of Desmos, but last time I looked, Desmos still had a more gentle learning curve. However, looking over it now, GeoGebra seems comparable to Desmos. If you have a chance to play around with the regular GeoGebra graphing calculator, I’d welcome your feedback on if you think I should consider moving from Desmos to Geogebra.
