PBSI was incorporated in 2008 and today employs more than 40 staff while maintaining more than 100 raptors. We work in some of Canada’s largest industrial sites and in the last year have expanded to the US, Africa, and the Caribbean.

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Wildlife Control Technician in the area of Miami, FL. This position involves running trap lines for invasive species, falconry work, along with various other deterrent techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Run and maintain multiple trap lines for invasive species daily
- Proper handling of live animals which can potentially be hazardous
- Daily care and maintenance of birds of prey. This includes flying, feeding, cleaning boxes/perching areas/housing
- Operate different types of control tools to deter birds from using site
- Daily survey of species’ and numbers of birds on-site
- Mew building and maintenance
- Daily written reports
- Daily survey of species’ on-site
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Administrative work is also a key component of this position. This includes reports, phone calls, and other such tasks to aid management on a daily basis
- Travel upon request
- Additional tasks as required
Experience/Qualifications:
- Very keen observational skills and attention to detail are essential to this position
- Must accurately and meticulously record data in the field
- Maintain work truck, field equipment, bird equipment and safety equipment
- Able and willing to walk 5+ miles each day
- Able and willing to work 8-10 hour days if necessary
- Is willing to working in adverse conditions and an ever changing environment each and every day
- Experience and general knowledge of tools preferred
- Willing to use firearms when necessary
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised, with a high level of self-motivation
- Must demonstrate quick learning, strong observational skills, critical thinking, recording skills, and self-reliance
- Communication skills are a must
- Organization and prioritization skills
- Given the nature of this work, applicants must be able to work unconventional hours, in all types of weather, and be physically fit (heavy lifting required)
- General interest and education in nature/birds/hunting is preferred
Part-time with the possibility of full-time hours: ~30 per week
