The Shorelands and Environmental Assistance (SEA) program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a WCC Office Assistant (Office Assistant 3) position. This position is located in our Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA.

This position is responsible for completing payroll, inputting necessary information in the WCC and AmeriCorps data bases, filing and scheduling, and assisting the file operations of the program.

Duties

The Shorelands and Environmental Assistance (SEA) program helps communities manage shorelands and wetlands. Our primary focus is on state and local responsibilities for administering Washington state and federally-delegated laws. Our mission is to work in partnership with communities to support healthy watersheds and promote statewide environmental interests.

Ecology’s Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) improves our environment while providing career enhancement opportunities for a diverse group of young adults and U.S. military veterans. As an AmeriCorps program, we create future leaders through community involvement and mentorship. WCC has over 350 members and experienced staff statewide who restore habitat, build trails and respond to local and national disasters.

Some of the key work activities of the WCC Office Assistant position are:

  • Typing various correspondence and memos. Maintaining paperwork and records.
  • Assists in scheduling, coordination and the logistics of meetings.
  • Assists administrative staff, crew supervisors, and corps members with various requests and is a member of the SEA Program’s administrative reception team.
  • Sorts and distributes incoming mail.
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation, compilation, and coordination of reports such as financial payroll, equipment usage, purchasing, inventory, personnel, scheduling, registration, and testing.
  • Performs time accounting entry for assigned crews.
  • Is responsible for collecting, inputting, updating, and generating reports on various production and personnel databases to ensure accurate reporting.
  • This position requires occasional travel to and from meetings outside of the Ecology Lacey Building

 
This positions provides you with an opportunity to:

Please Note: This is a project position that is funded until September 30, 2022.

Please note: During Stay Home, Stay Healthy, staff are working a combination of in-office and/or telework based on position and business need. This position is expected to work in the office 5 days a week.

Ecology is maintaining less than maximum building occupancy, and is requiring masks, health screening questions before entry, and social distancing.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent and two (2) years of clerical experience.

The ability to effectively:

  • Coordinate activities, services, and schedules to ensure smooth and efficient operations of work.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:

  • Must possess a Driver’s license.
  • Must not be registered, or required to register, with the National Sex Offender Public Registry.
