GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking to fill a two (2) monthly position that will assist the statewide spawning crew with egg collection from various wild and captive salmonid brood stocks throughout the state. Human Resource Contact: Laura Curtis / 307-777-4507

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Duties will include, but not be limited to, capturing wild fish using a variety of capture methods including electro-fishing, trap nets, in-stream weirs, and gill nets.
  • This position is required to work in various environmental conditions, using a variety of tools, equipment, and some heavy lifting will be required.
  • Some equipment and grounds maintenance will be necessary.

Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: Preference will be given to candidates holding or pursuing a career or degree in fisheries, wildlife, or resource management. Preference will be given to those with a high school diploma and one year of experience in fishery and wildlife management or college coursework towards a degree in fishery and wildlife management, biology, or ichthyology. Preference will be given to those who attach a resume with their online state application.

KNOWLEDGE: 

  • Knowledge of fish, fisheries, spawning practices, and general fish egg care.
  • Ability to operate watercraft, 4WD vehicles, ATVs, and pulling trailers.
  • Maintaining equipment and facilities

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The position requires extended stays (4-7 days) in camp trailers.
  • Some heavy lifting may be necessary.

NOTES: 

  • FLSA: Non-exempt
  • Successful applicants for employment must pass a background check before appointment.
  • This position will run from September 1st, 2023 to October 31st, 2023.
  • Waders, uniforms, rain gear, and other necessary gear will be provided.
  • No previous fisheries experience is required.
  • Housing is provided at no charge to the employee.
