The  Shorelands and Environmental Assistance (SEA) program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill the Shorelands and Environmental Assistance Section Administrative Assistant 3 position. The position is located in our Central Regional Office (CRO) in Union Gap, WA.

A multicultural geographical area, the office is situated in the Yakima Valley, a beautiful area for nature lovers. The Valley is a productive agricultural region noted for apple, wine, and hop production. With an average of 300 days of sunshine a year, the area provides year-round recreational opportunities. We work with tribal sovereigns and other local governments, and organizations and individuals who work, live, and play in Washington.

The Administrative Assistant 3 position provides support for a small but very busy professional staff. The working atmosphere is collaborative, inclusive, and respectful.

Duties

Agency Mission: Ecology’s mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance Washington’s environment for current and future generations.

Program Mission: Supporting community conservation efforts for our shorelands, wetlands, and floodplains.

The Shorelands and Environmental Assistance Section Administrative Assistant 3 position provides administrative support and assistance to five professional staff and the regional section manager and is key to the success of regional permitting efforts, plays a critical role in the proofing, formatting, and distribution of permit decisions. The position is also responsible for file and record management, purchasing, and asset inventory and curation.

Please note: During Stay Home, Stay Healthy, staff are working a combination of in-office and/or telework based on position and business need. This position is expected to work in the office up to 2 days a week.

Ecology is maintaining less than maximum building occupancy, and requiring masks, health screening questions before entry, and social distancing.

This recruitment will remain open until filled. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

There are multiple ways to qualify for this position. See options below:

Option 1: High school graduation or GED AND four (4) years of clerical, secretarial, bookkeeping, accounting, or general administrative office work experience.

Option 2: A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration or closely allied field.

Option 3: One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 2 at the Department of Ecology.

Additional experience and education combinations that meet the requirements for this position:

Possible Combinations College credit hours or degree as listed above Years of required experience as listed above.
Combination 1 High School Diploma or GED. 4 years of experience
Combination 2 I have 30-59 semester or 45-89 quarter credits. 3 years of experience
Combination 3 I have 60-89 semester or 90-134 quarter credits (AA degree). 2 years of experience
Combination 4 90-119 semester or 135-179 quarter credits. 1 year of experience
Combination 5 A Bachelor’s Degree. 0 years of experience.
