The Science Communication Specialist position will work with staff in the District’s three technical programs: Producer and Working Lands, Habitat Conservation and Restoration, and Water Quality and Quantity, to develop and implement outreach to connect the District’s technical staff and their programs with members of the Clark County community. This position will use GIS mapping and other data-driven sources to help prioritize outreach in the watersheds within the district boundaries, and will also provide general support as needed to the technical staff. The Science Communication Specialist reports to the Habitat Program Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree involving a major study in natural resources, environmental sciences or studies, GIS, education, communications, or a related field. Paid job experience may be accepted in place of a degree.
  • One to three years of experience administering outreach programming in formal or informal settings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to, training in, and experience with the practical application of diversity, equity, or inclusion strategies.
  • Experience designing and developing print and online outreach material.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences both verbally and in writing.
