Maui Nui Marine Resource Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working for healthy coral reefs, clean ocean water, and abundant native fish. The Business Development Coordinator will assist the Reef Friendly Landscaping (RFL) Project Manager in developing an RFL business model through industry research and customer discovery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct industry and market research for an organic landscaping curriculum.
  • Comprehensive research and knowledge of hotel and resort landscaping practices.
  • Understanding of existing product offerings and services from landscaping companies.
  • Identify key customers for an organic land care curriculum through customer discovery and survey implementation and analysis.
  • Produce summary of legal landscape between nonprofits and revenue generating programs.
  • Create financial projects and cost structures for an online curriculum and membership program.

Desired Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates development of new organic landscaping curriculum videos working with NOFA Standards Handbook to make curriculum Hawaii specific and available in multiple languages.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining sliding scale pricing membership for participating RFL properties.
  • Coordinate and assist in the development and scheduling of landscaping continuing education classes.
  • Works with partners and consultants to innovate and generate additional earned income.
  • Create baseline database to measure future success by collecting soil samples and limu samples for microbiology and nitrogen analysis.
