Position Summary

Location: the applicant that is hired may work in Alaska or Washington, USA. Or Canada.

The Project Manager-Climate Emerald Edge will lead the effective delivery of the Emerald Edge’s climate mitigation program to secure increased carbon storage in the coastal temperate rainforests in the Pacific Northwest region of North America.  The focus of the work will be on catalyzing the implementation of natural climate solutions (NCS), primarily through forest carbon storage and potentially other pathways such as blue carbon in coastal marine ecosystems, as a critical means of combatting the global climate crisis.  This 3-yearposition with an opportunity for extension will be responsible for delivering outcomes aligned with an initiative supported wholly by the Bezos Earth Fund to advance and accelerate NCS across the region.  The Project Manager is committed to working in partnership with Indigenous communities to support increased capacity and authority of Indigenous Peoples to steward their lands and waters.  In strong collaboration with the TNC Business Units of Alaska, Canada, and Washington, the Project Manager will work collaboratively with Business Unit staff to increase the deployment of actions in the region to advance climate mitigation and resilience goals through strategies that are in alignment with a rights-based approach and in collaboration with Indigenous communities, local communities, industry sectors, governments, and other civic organizations.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Relevant degree, BA/BS, or law and at least 5 years of experience in project management or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proven skills managing a dispersed team of people for results, especially one lacking direct reports, and leading in an inspiring and supportive manner;
• Experience developing coalitions of partners, across organizational interests, committed to achieving shared goals;
• Experience developing, managing, and tracking budgets and external contracts;
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communications for diverse audiences; and
• Ability to act in accordance with our WA Equity Statement; be respectful of differences of identity and/or beliefs, and successfully work across those differences to meet work objectives.
• Proficiency in applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Web Browsers.
• Ability to travel between Alaska, British Columbia (Canada), and Washington, or beyond for essential meetings and events.
