Duties

Summary

This position is located in the National Forest System, Washington Office, Great American Outdoors Act (GAO) Strike Team.

Incumbent will lead and coordinate Strike Team efforts to leverage partnerships in GAO Act implementation, consistent with the Act’s provisions.

Responsibilities

  • Expertise in facilitating engagement with partners and generating support for and investment in GAO Act project implementation is essential.
  • Serves as a technical expert on partnerships, working in close collaboration with the National and Regional Partnership Coordinators, NPO leadership, and other Forest Service collaborators.
  • Serves as an agent for change management, helping the organization catalyze partnerships as a way of achieving and amplifying GAO Act success within the Forest Service while guiding partners to opportunities with the Forest Service.
  • Develops strategic networks to leverage and amplify partnerships at the field level and across the agency.
  • Learns, networks, and consults across the agency through meetings and other communication and collaboration tools.
  • Coordinates with staff and line officers across the agency to integrate program goals in support of the Forest Service mission.

Specialized Experience Requirement:

For the GS-13: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as majority of the following: performed work related to building coalitions for partnerships that included communicating with a full range of agency stakeholders including large corporations, small businesses, governmental organizations, non-profits, tribal governments, media, academic institutions, the general public, local community groups, Congressional/legislative committees and staffs, and/or other organizations to secure developing and expanding existing partnerships; worked with non-profit organizations or state government demonstrating a good understanding of how external partners are funded, their missions and goals, and how they operate in partnerships in order to develop community or non-profit capacity to affect conservation goals; and/or served as a consultant and advisor to officials as a recognized authority in coordinating, planning, designing and executing a regional or national level program in partnership development that builds capacity to execute an organization’s mission.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
