Job Description: The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust works to steward a landscape that stretches 100 miles from the shores of Puget Sound, across the Cascade Mountains, to Central Washington. The Greenway Trust also coordinates the Mountains to Sound Greenway National Heritage Area, which honors the historical and cultural significance of this place and helps to preserve and celebrate its living heritage.
The Kittitas Stewardship Coordinator will work with a wide array of partners in the Yakima River Basin, to organize the participation of local and regional communities in the health and sustainability of public lands, with a focus on engaging underrepresented groups. They will work with land managers to create and identify recreation and restoration projects appropriate for community volunteers. Their responsibilities will include training and overseeing volunteers to complete these projects and serving as a touchstone for volunteer stewardship inquiries and requests in Kittitas County.
The successful Coordinator will demonstrate a passion for connecting people and the outdoors, strong planning skills, adaptability to changing conditions, and the ability to work independently in the field. This position is ideal for an outgoing, energetic, organized individual with a drive to connect with local community groups and individuals. Applicants may have experience running volunteer programs, working or leading trail crews, planning or implementing restoration efforts, or fostering a sense of teamwork among unlikely partners. Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into their work.

Salary & Benefits: Salary is $22.12 to $25.48 hourly ($46,000 to $53,000 annually) depending on experience. The Greenway Trust offers a generous benefits package to our employees including an employer-sponsored medical, dental and vision plan, paid vacation and sick leave, retirement plan and more.
Schedule: Full-time non-exempt position. Position typically works Monday to Friday and with regular weekend events in summer and fall, and occasional evening meetings. Estimated 50/50 office/field time.

Location: Greenway Trust employees are currently working remotely with occasional in-person meetings. The organization will be moving to a hybrid model that combines both remote and in-office work, at which time this position will be based at the Greenway Trust’s Cle Elum office (110 E First St, Cle Elum, WA, 98922). The position includes regular travel to on-site meetings and events in Kittitas County, and occasionally throughout the Mountains to Sound Greenway National Heritage Area.
Equipment: The Greenway Trust provides a work laptop computer and cell phone to employees. The Kittitas Stewardship Coordinator will have access to a Greenway vehicle for work purposes; a valid driver’s license, insurable driving record, and completion of internal training is required to use any Greenway vehicle. Employees will be reimbursed for the use of personal vehicles during Greenway business.
