ECOSS seeks a highly qualified project management expert to serve as an Interim Program Director for approximately 6-9 months. The purpose is to provide compassionate leadership and guidance as we progress through a strategic staffing transition, readying staff for leadership roles. It’s an opportunity to have a meaningful impact working with a local nonprofit organization that specializes in environmental awareness and justice, and outreach and education to local communities. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who has worked in Seattle’s environmental consulting sector and values the role and contributions of community-based organizations. ECOSS is seeking an individual with a passion for mentoring and helping advance the careers of others. This is a newly developed position with room for input and flexibility to maximize the effectiveness of this interim period.

Responsibilities and Scope

The Interim Program Director will report to the Executive Director. They will work closely and communicate frequently with the Senior Management Team. They will serve as the senior lead, advisor and trainer for 8-10 project staff. There is wide latitude to exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems. This is an opportunity to demonstrate leadership and influence the organization’s structure, skills and programs, leading to a significant and positive impact. Because the position is currently established as a temporary role, the IPD will not personally manage projects.

ECOSS delivers programs that address environmental equity and social justice, solid waste management, pollution prevention, green infrastructure, transportation, clean energy, clean water, clean air, and environmental access for all. As such, the IPD will provide technical, managerial, and administrative oversight to a wide range of environmentally focused programs and to the diverse staff that serve these programs.
