Tacoma Power’s Power Management Customer Energy Solutions (CES) section is looking for a Data Analyst, Principal to join their team. This role is responsible for critical data analysis and regulatory compliance reporting of energy conservation and renewable energy to state and federal authorities. In this role you will utilize your advanced analytical skills to assist senior managers in accomplishing Tacoma Power’s strategic energy conservation and renewable energy reporting goals and initiatives. This role coordinates with senior managers on development, reporting and necessary monitoring of CES’ $10-$12 million capital incentive, the $10+ million operational biennial budgets and the recoupment of Tacoma Power’s funds BPA Energy Efficiency Incentive $7.5 million.
Responsibilities include:- Analyzes, documents, reports and tracks all acquisition of Business and Residential energy conservation savings for meeting Public Utility Board approved conservation targets to meet compliance requirements of RCW 19.285 Washington’s Energy Independence Act (EIA I937)
- Performs detailed analysis of project energy savings and achievements to meet BPA Implementation Manual requirements and prepares invoices using complex tools in order for Power to receive its rate period allocation of Energy Conservation Incentive funding ($7.5 million)
- Compiles, reconciles and reports the project savings accomplishments annually to the Department of Commerce and periodically to BPA
- Coordinates EIA documentation and compliance in cooperation with the Washington State Auditor’s Office and BPA
- Serves on ad hoc state and federal teams to enhance energy conservation and renewable energy reporting and security
- Organizes CES program data to provide detailed monthly accomplishment and budget reservation reports, metrics and forecasts for CES business, residential, mobility and green energy programs for managers and program staff
- Responds to external and internal inquiries regarding program costs and energy savings
- Acquires and analyzes customer demographic and energy data necessary for program development
- Assists in data acquisition for CES 20 Updated: 01/2023 two-year conservation plan and Power’s 10-year conservation potential assessment
- Coordinates the ability of business owners/customer to acquire billing/consumption data for successful EnergyStar Portfolio Manager preparation to meet Washington’s Clean Buildings Law requirements
- Serves as CES budget lead to prepare and monitor detailed biennial capital, staffing and operational budgets
- Coordinates with CES managers and staff to analyze and develop budgetary business cases to meet CES compliance targets and strategic goals
- Serves as Power Management’s representative on Power Capital Steering Committee to allocate $160- $180 million in biennial capital requests
- Develops capital budget requests and works with CES managers to successfully utilize allocated capital resources
- Serves as CES contact with City of Tacoma Finance to organize payment files, expenditures and corrections as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Education*
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or directly related field, such as Business Administration.
Minimum Experience*
4 years of experience in statistical analysis, data modeling or data analytics including 1 year prior lead experience.
*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
Desired Qualifications- Proficiency building Tableau Dashboards
- Experience writing complex SQL queries
