Tribal Department: Treaty Rights and Government Affairs
Job Summary: Support the Tulalip Tribes through the Treaty Rights and Government Affairs Department on a wide array of natural and cultural resource issues of concern to the Tribe. Advocate for tribal treaty rights and collaborate with other tribal departments, state and federal agency representatives, non-governmental organizations, and state and federal legislative bodies, in order to create and execute programs and policies. Assist the Treaty Rights and Government Affairs Department to develop programs to research and promote Tulalip Tribes resilience to climate change. Help to organize and/or represent the Tulalip Tribes on relevant technical or policy-related forums. Assume additional responsibilities and perform other duties as directed. This position is expected to work well independently and cooperatively, and on a wide array of projects and subject matter under the guidance and direction of the Director of Treaty Rights and Government Affairs
Compensation: $29.47 hr.
Education Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Policy or Planning, Environmental Science, Biology, Native Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Conservation Biology, or other relevant natural or social science fields,
- Master’s Degree preferred. *A Master’s Degree will substitute for three (3) years’ experience.
Minimum Related Experience
- Five (5) years’ experience in Conservation Biology, Natural Resources Management or Policy, Environmental Policy or Planning, Environmental Science, Native Environmental Science, or related natural or social science field.
- Five (5) years’ experience facilitating technical discussions and meetings among experts in Conservation Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Policy or similar fields.
Required Licenses/Certifications/Prerequisites
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License and must adhere to the Tribal Insurance Policy. (Abstract Required)
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
