    Internship Description

    Who you are:

You have completed your first year of college and are ready to start exploring possible career options. You are an avid learner, inquisitive and enjoy variety in your work.  You are dependable and aren’t afraid to ask questions and ask for help when needed. Most of all you enjoy being outdoors and are excited about working in an industry that offers you that opportunity.

    What the job is:

During this internship you will learn how a working forest is managed; below are a few examples of the kind of work you’ll gain exposure to:

    • Forest Management – Flag boundaries for streams, property lines, wildlife retention areas, and wildlife habitat features.
    • Orchard – assist with irrigation, tree tagging, weed spraying, vegetation control, and seeding fertilization.

If any of this is new to you, that’s ok, we’ll teach you everything you need to know to safely do your work.

    Who you will work with:

Day-to-day you’ll work with our team of foresters, who will train you on everything you need to know throughout your internship.  You’ll also have the opportunity to interact with other departments across the division including operations, biology, engineering, GIS, and inventory.

    Where you’ll work:

The Washington internship is located in Mason County along southernmost tip of Puget Sound near the foothills of the Olympic National Forest. Our office is in the historic city of Shelton where the Green Diamond family legacy began.

    Who Green Diamond is:

We grow and nurture forests, a renewable resource to build homes, schools, and household necessities, harnessing carbon every single day we operate. We’re a family-owned company that is guided by our values of environmental stewardship and supporting our local communities.  We do what’s right, even when it is the harder path to follow.  We focus on the health and safety of our people first – by taking care of all our resources, we plan to be here for another 130 years.
