Wolves on the Olympic Peninsula? Early Greeners Reunite after 50 Years to Revisit Potential for Reintroduction
In the summer of 1975, fifty years ago, seven students came together at Evergreen to conduct a ground-breaking study on the feasibility of reintroducing wolves to Olympic National Park. Supported by a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant, the project combined field work, historical research and computer simulation, and it anticipated by two decades the return of wolves to Yellowstone and elsewhere. Join Evergreen alumni Peter Dratch ’75, Brenda Johnson ’75, Cindy Swanberg ’76, Linda Leigh ’77, Rennie Selkirk ’77 and Diane Morgan as they return to Evergreen to discuss wolves and how the NSF grant affected their careers.
